L'esprit de l'escalier →
nostrich:
I knew there had to be a term for this.
L’esprit d’escalier (literally, stairway wit) is a French term that describes the predicament of thinking of the right comeback too late.
I think we’ve all been there.
Aha! I’ve been trying to remember this phrase for God-knows-how-long.

If you’ve recently (or ever, for that matter) tried to hire a developer or other technology-oriented person but were pretty pissed with the process, I’d love to talk to you and hear your thoughts. Email me at kyle.bragger at gmail dot com. Thanks.
Tumblr Updates
Man, kudos to David and Marco; the updates they pushed out today are pretty slick.
By deleting my bookmark for Google Reader, I noticed that I check it far less than I used to, and in doing so, I find myself really processing the articles versus skimming them over. Interesting.

Avi Flombaum on RRW’s post about BricaBox:
Just wanted to say that the problems I was having creating content have been fixed. Had a refreshingly good conversation with Kyle from Bricabox about the problem and he quickly fixed it and deployed it. While I still think they have a long way to go, that sort of agile and modest approach to development will take them there in no time.
...
I like when people post totally useless bug reports, for instance, something along the lines of “your site is really buggy.” That’s it. Sheesh.

New York Times: TimesMachine Great interface to browse 70 years of the New York Times. Doesn’t it seem like everyone has a time machine these days?
Wow. Extremely well-done job on making this a really seamless user experience.

Dear internet,
Please prevent people from building any more of the following:
social networks
Twitter clones
niche wikis
anything involving the words “social”, “graph”, “open”, or any combination thereof.
Best,
Kyle
The internet is downright boring.
